This unit involves the skills and knowledge required for the overhaul of an electrical generator.
An overhaul is the process of conducting a thorough examination of equipment and/or plant with repairs or modifications being made, as required. This may include taking apart an electrical generator to examine it in detail.
Competency in this unit requires the ability to plan work, carry out electrical generator overhaul, and to report on all completed work tasks. Individuals will, in general, work under supervision in an electrical, electronic and/or mechanical equipment repair workshop or on site.
Power generation maintenance personnel are typically trained and authorised to receive permits to work.
